‘Gator in Georgia super-sizes meal

These photos were taken three years ago from a U.S. Fish and Wildlife helicopter flying over the Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge about 40 miles south of Savannah, Georgia. In case it’s not obvious, the darker one is an alligator, and the thing in its mouth is a deer. The alligator means to eat the deer.

Alligator sightings are not as common in South Georgia as they are in Florida, but they aren’t rare either.

Venison is tasty. Though I bet it will be a bit “gamey” in the form the gator will ingest it.

An altruistic gator attempts to save a drowning deer, and you naturally assume the worst. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
